Project overview

Jobilight is a full-stack web application designed to simplify and centralize the job search process. Users can track each application through its lifecycle, manage interview timelines, create follow-up tasks, and maintain progress visibility through a clean dashboard experience. The product was built with a strong emphasis on usability, reliable data modeling, and production-ready workflows including authentication, payment support, and communication features.

Key features

  • Application Pipeline Tracking: Manage job applications with status progression, editable details, and structured records.
  • Interview Management: Schedule, edit, and track interview stages with dedicated CRUD workflows.
  • Tasks & Follow-Ups: Add actionable todos and reminders to keep outreach and preparation consistent.
  • Calendar & Workflow Visibility: Organize events and daily priorities from a centralized dashboard and calendar view.
  • Account & Premium Flows: Supports secure authentication, user settings, and Stripe-powered premium checkout integration.

Technology used

  • Next.js & TypeScript: Built with the App Router using typed server/client components and API routes.
  • Prisma & PostgreSQL: Implemented relational models and migrations for applications, interviews, todos, and calendar events.
  • Tailwind CSS: Created a responsive UI with consistent design patterns across public and authenticated areas.
  • Better Auth & Stripe: Integrated authentication/session management and subscription payment workflows.

Challenges and learnings

The main challenge was coordinating multiple domain workflows (applications, interviews, tasks, and calendar events) while keeping data consistency and UX clarity across server actions and API routes. Building robust validation, enum safety, and secure session-gated pages improved overall reliability. Integrating payments and user-account flows alongside core product features also strengthened my approach to production-ready architecture and operational safeguards.

Outcome

Jobilight evolved into a practical, extensible portfolio product that demonstrates end-to-end full-stack engineering: from schema design and authenticated app flows to polished UI and monetization support. It provides a clear foundation for future AI-assisted job search features and deeper productivity integrations.
